Telephone

Telephone service is provided to anyone wishing to acquire a Kaldan telephone number. Both citizens of Kaldan, and foreign subscribers can acquire a Kaldan telephone number. Foreigners living outside of Kaldus will only have SIP as an option. With that in mind, they will need a SIP phone, or a POTS phone + an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter). If they were coming to visit, or live, they can transition to cellular, but if doing that, they won’t be able to use their number until they enter the country.

For cellular service, the only new devices that would be added will be smartphones. No basic nor KaiOS phones are supported. In turn, the subscriber will acquire an Android, iOS, or Linux phone. If the phone is purchased in Kaldus, then it would likely be dual SIM. SIM 2 is always eSIM. SIM 1 can be eSIM, or nano-SIM. For those that plan on traveling out of the country will probably want to use their SIM card for their Kaldan number so they have more flexibility when acquiring an eSIM plan in another country.

For home telephone, or fax – everything is SIP only. For those that wish to continue to use their POTS phone will need an ATA. For those that wish to acquire a new phone, they will need a SIP compliant phone to work with their Kaldan number. Many SIP phones support a minimum of 2 accounts, so this means there could be 2 Kaldan telephone numbers, or 1 Kaldan number, and one number from another SIP provider.

For proprietary VOIP solutions such as Magic Jack, Ooma, and Vonage you would likely be provided with an ATA that has an RJ11 jack for plugging in the phone. If the former phone standard was anything other than RJ11, then there will likely need to be an adapter for the POTS phone to plug into the propriatary VOIP solution.
